My County Rec Pass

The My County Rec Pass pass provides completely free access to Salt Lake County recreation centers for youth ages 0-18.

Getting your pass is now easier than ever! Parents can sign up online through our recreation centers' online stores, or download the paper application to fill out and bring to any participating facility.

To comply with the patron standards of conduct policy and outline My County Rec Pass expectations and guidelines that are acceptable and unacceptable while in participating in recreation programs, recreation centers, pools, ice rinks, or any other activity that is sponsored or organized by the Recreation Section of Parks & Recreation.

Program

The My County Rec Pass provides residents of Salt Lake County free access to Salt Lake County recreation centers, swimming pools, ice rinks and specified My County Rec Pass activities for youth 0-18 years of age.

Age Restrictions

  1. All Children ages 9 and under must be always accompanied and supervised in all areas of Salt Lake County Recreation facilities by a parent, guardian, or chaperone age 14 or older.
    • Swimming Pool:
      • Children aged 5 and under must always be accompanied in the water and stay within arm's reach of a parent, guardian, or chaperone 14 years of age or older. The chaperone must be in a swimsuit. This rule applies even if the child is wearing a life jacket.
      • Children 6-9 years of age must be supervised in the pool area by a parent, guardian, or chaperone at least 14 years of age or older.
      • Swimmers must be 14 years or older and must be able to swim consecutive laps. Approval by the Aquatics Facility Coordinator is required if a swimmer is under the age of 14.
  2. Each Salt Lake County facility may have specific age restrictions for various amenities, programs, and activities. These age restrictions are available at each facility and must be adhered to by all participants.
  3. Children aged 5 - 7 years old are allowed in the center unaccompanied by a parent/guardian if they are participating in a registered activity.
  4. Children must be 14 years old or order to use the weight room, cardio areas, tracks, and group fitness classes with a youth certification pass.
  5. There are restrictions for when children are allowed to be in the center. If staff have concerns that a child is in the center when they should be in school then staff should speak with the child and, if necessary, contact the child's parent/guardian.
  6. To ensure children's safety and sense of security, children must be picked up at least 15 minutes prior to the building closing. Parent/guardians should verify operating hours and the center schedule for age-appropriate activities prior to leaving children at the facility. Parents are advised that staff cannot take responsibility for children who are left unattended. Staff may contact local police departments for assistance if children are left at the facility after closing.

Discipline Guidelines and Code of Conduct

Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation reserves the right to suspend or terminate a patron from the center, program or activity by reason of continual violations of violations of acceptable behavioral conduct listed below.

  1. All patrons will be held to the Salt Lake County Recreation Patron Standards of Conduct Policy.
  2. Disruptive behavior creating imminent danger includes but is not limited to:
    • Conduct that results in, or creates a reasonable threat of, bodily harm or personal injury.
      1. Fighting, spitting, verbal aggression, inappropriate use of language, destruction of property, or other similar threatening, or out-of-control behavior.
      2. Threats, fighting words, verbal, sexual, or physical harassment of other Patrons or Facility staff.
    • Cognitively choosing not to follow directions and/or established rules.
    • Instigating or participating in gang activity: wearing gang-related clothing; displaying gang color; or having gang paraphernalia on their person or in their possession.
    • Possession of weapons, or look-alike weapons, of any kind, to include, but not be limited to firearms, knives, chemical devices, or any instrument that may represent a danger to themselves or another person.
    • Sexual inappropriateness.
    • Possession and/or use of alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, and controlled drugs; or substances.
    • Running away from the facility, a sponsored activity, or program supervisor when in our care.
    • Unsportsmanlike or disrespectful conduct, while present in the facility, whether participating in an Activity or not, which includes but is not limited to willful violation of rules of the activity or facility. Failure to follow instructions of facility staff including referees/officials, abusive language or gestures. This applies to all Patrons, which includes registered program participants and spectators.
    • Other conduct which reasonably interferes with or impairs the operation of the facility, the staff's ability to carry out their duties, or the enjoyment of the facility by other patrons.
    • Violations of any law or violations of any facility or activity-specific rule.

Above is template to assist in the guidance of behavior management. These standards are in addition to applicable specific rules and include sanctions. Staff may enforce these standards in addition to, or alternatively with specific rules as the division deems appropriate. Patron Standards of Conduct Policy will be used for any patrons/customers that request an appeal of a suspension from any center, program, or activity.

My County Rec Pass is not valid at facilities that are not operated by Salt Lake County, including Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center, The Park Center in Murray, Alta Canyon Sports Center, Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center, and West Valley City Family Fitness Center.

  • Parents/guardians may sign up their 0-18 year old(s) at a Salt Lake County operated recreation center or outdoor pool, or via a center's online store. 
    • 18-year-olds may sign up for the pass without the consent of a parent/guardian.
  • Both child and guardian must register in person
  • Parent/guardian must bring ID or proof of Salt Lake County residency.

The pass expires on the member’s 19th birthday—no renewal is needed before then.

Salt Lake County residents, age 0-18 are eligible for the My County Rec Pass. Youth who are nine years old and under must be accompanied by someone 14 years of age or older at all times.
