Aging and Adult Services Privacy Notices

Salt Lake County (SLCo) is committed to protecting the personal information we collect. These Privacy Notices are provided in accordance with Utah Code §§ 63A-19-101 et seq., Government Data Privacy Act (GDPA), to inform you about how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you interact with Aging and Adult Services. Here's what you need to know:

What is Personal Data?

"Personal data" means information that is linked or can be reasonably linked to an identified individual or an identifiable individual.

Which Notice Applies to You?

Choose the right notice based on what information you're providing:

Are you providing basic information, such as your name or address, that may be made available to the public? Read the "Privacy Notice - Public Record."

Are you providing sensitive information like your Social Security number, financial details, medical information, or income? Read the "Privacy Notice - Non-Public Record."

The personal data that you provide, or that is collected from you, is classified as a public record pursuant to Utah Code § 63G-2-301 of the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA), and may be made available to the public as provided by Utah Code § 63G-2-201.

Salt Lake County uses personal data to provide services, process requests, verify identity, communicate, maintain records, support audits, prevent fraud, protect systems, comply with legal requirements, and improve programs, and may employ technology-assisted tools like AI and automation with safeguards to support these purposes while limiting personal data use and requiring additional review for high-risk automated processing.

How We Protect Your Data

SLCo uses technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to ensure your personal data is protected from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

Your Privacy Rights

Under applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we have about you.
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data.
  • Explanation: Restrict or object to how your data is used in specific circumstances.

To exercise these rights, please submit a public records request.
